Frank Deak led the DeWitt Panthers to the Class C State Championship in 1983 and the Class B State Championship in 1993 en route to compiling an overwhelming .782 winning percentage at DeWitt High School.

The DeWitt head baseball coach from 1968-1969 and 1980-1999, Deak went 567-158 with the Panthers, capturing 16 league titles, 13 district championships and five regional championships, and reaching the Final Four on four separate occasions.

Deak joined DeWitt after a season coaching at Portland St. Patrick in addition to a pair of seasons in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he attained both undergraduate and master’s degrees at Indiana State University. In all, Deak won 621 games while losing only 171, a career winning percentage of .784.

Deak’s state champion DeWitt Panthers of 1993 rank among the greatest teams in Michigan high school baseball history, winning 33 consecutive games and finishing the season with a 38-3 record; for his efforts, Deak was honored as the runner-up for National Coach of the Year. That same year, he was inducted into the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA) Hall of Fame.

Upon his retirement from DeWitt, Frank Deak joined Lansing Community College and built the LCC baseball program, coaching at LCC for five seasons.
